COMPANY B

In a program set to the swinging tunes of the Andrews Sisters, Pittsburgh native Paul Taylor explores the realities of World War II America through the social dances of the 1940s. Fun-loving images of dancers as they jive, jitterbug and swing across the stage are contrasted with those of our GIs and the hardships faced during the war. Including such popular songs as "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy (of Company B), "Oh Johnny, Oh Johnny, Oh!" and "Tico Tico". Company B is a work that extends beyond nostalgia to capture the feelings and emotions of an entire generation

IN THE UPPER ROOM

Described by Tharp as "fierce, driving and relentless," the movement of In the Upper Room is an edgy blend of ballet and modern that leads dancers through an energetic tour de force and takes audiences along for the ride. Set to Philip Glass' rhythmic score, the drame and athleticism of PBT's dancers are showcased like never before.
