709 Penn Avenue, in the heart of the Cultural District

Art work by Anna Divinsky, JoAnna Commandaros, Karen Page and Holland Williams

While featuring the work of these four artists, this interactive installation incorporates the creative participation of the audience as well as the students from CAPA, Slippery Rock University and The University of Pittsburgh. Natural growth forms will be used as the source material for these collaborative works. The audience will be invited to select varied organic linoleum carvings produced by the students to create root drawings through planting seeds in the beds of the carvings. These wheat grass seeds will be overlaid with cheesecloth and watered producing unusual shapes. Their forms will be added to the installation. Nests, Rhizomes, Seeds weaves the symbiotic relationship of natural processes with visual language, demonstrating the creative bond between four women artists and educators, their students and the Pittsburgh community.

Nests, Rhizomes, Seeds is showing from November 13 to December 31.

Reception: December 4, 2010 6-8pm

Gallery Hours: Tuesday-Friday, 12-8pm & Saturday, 12-6pm
