Wood Street Galleries, a project of The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, will unveil Gravity of Light, by New York-based artists (and identical twins) Doug and Mike Starn. This exhibition will be held at a warehouse location (to be announced) and will run through October 30. Featuring the Starns’ homemade carbon arc lamp - an impressive structure serving as both a central work of sculpture and a scientific experimental device at 13-feet high and resembling a gigantic robotic arm from an assembly line - Gravity of Light is scheduled to travel to the Detroit Institute of Arts in 2009 after its Pittsburgh premiere.
